Eat like an Indian.

Eat like an Indian.
But then in Belgium and mainly in Antwerp (lol !)

Who thinks of Indian cuisine thinks of herbs. From mild to so hot & spicy that the steam will come out of your ears. ;-)  You will discover flavors and colors of herbs, and incredibly tasty Turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom and coriander are but a few of those we know. I want to give you a little insight in a few Indian restaurants in Antwerp. Are you coming?

First to start with, two who are near Central Station in Antwerp.

AAHAAR.
Lange Herentalsestraat 23, 2018 Antwerp.
www.aahaar.com

This is an experience for those who want to discover Indian cuisine. You can opt for a buffet or à la carte. Buffet is a must for those who want to taste everything without being broke afterwards, because it is very cheap. All dishes are vegetarian ! YEAH for us ! The variety of preparations are enormous. Mjammie!
INFO:
The kitchen adheres to the rules of Jainism.

BOLLYWOOD.
Lange Herentalsestraat 56, 2018 Antwerp.

Yep, this is also close to Central Station and Aahaar. Here is a great choice à la carte available. The service is in English, tremendously friendly. The food pure vegetarian. So yeah us again ! Very tasty and well seasoned but not too spicy, in the case that you are not used to spicy food. You can also order the luchmenu.
INFO:
The chef also does catering for parties.

DELHI DELICIOUS.
Gitschotellei 379 at 2140 Borgerhout.
www.delhidelicious.be

This fairly large restaurant you'll find outside the center of Antwerp, in the neighborhood of Berchem train-station and near the Te Boelaerpark. There is a tram and there is parking nearby, so no problem. Also here you will find the traditional Indian cuisine. Because it can be very busy there it's possible you will have to wait a little longer, but it's definitely worth the wait.
INFO:
There is also a takeaway service.

SAFFRON.
Geuzenstraat 15 in 2000 Antwerp.
www.resto-safraan.be

This one is in the neighborhood of the Nationalstraat, the statue of Marnix and the Institute of Tropical Diseases. This restaurant offers fine cuisine in a cozy interior. You will be immersed in a warm saffon color palette. If the weather is good you can sit outside in a nice backyard. There yoy can enjoy hearing a little fountain splash and in the evening there is torch light, what makes it extra attractive and romantic for copples. The fixed menu offers you a large selection of Indian dishes. But on Monday, there is no fixed menu, because the cooks want to present you then typical en special regional dishes.
INFO:
You can also find the cookbook 'Garam Masala' to discover Indian cuisine of Chef Mashuk Rahamam.

Urvashi.
Verschansingstraat 63, 2000 Antwerp.
www.urvashi.be

Just as Saffron is this restaurant in Antwerp South located near the Museum of Fine Arts and the Watergate. It looks less sophisticated and rather kitschy but offers a typical, delicious cuisine. Expensive than Aahaar or Bollywood. Also for the non vegetarian is a choice of chicken and lamb dishes.
INFO:
This restaurant serves North Indian cuisine.

Eat them,
